Our Wedding

Abigail and Rylan met through a church event shortly before (after?) Thanksgiving last year. As far as I can tell, there was much to talk about and lots of shared interests.One of their first dates involved Rylan changing the oil in her car and then sharing the picnic lunch she had brought to say thank you. I think this first date lasted much longer than an ordinary oil change and by the end of it, they were both hooked! This was also our first hint of Rylan's existence! Mike asked about getting her oil changed and the reply came back that a "friend" was going to do it for her!Our first glimpse of this capable young man came when he attended an after Christmas party we hosted for all our kid's friends. Abbie played it cool until Rylan's car reached the curb and then she raced down the stairs and into the street to meet him. Any questions I might have had about how serious this was were answered in a flash! :-)I'm a bit fuzzy on other details of their courtship so hopefully Abbie can find time to add to this. I do know that each time we had an opportunity to host them we saw a greater and greater appreciation for each other and the love of the Lord that they saw in each other. I do know that they attend two churches that are closely linked by their history (Abbie's church planted Rylan's) and so they have a sweet "together but distinct" church life that links their lives and free time. A lovely way to be linked!Rylan's parents and younger brother attend his church also, and we have very much enjoyed bringing the families together for a few visits and we look forward to many more to come. Rylan's older brother is someone special to our family from several years ago, but sadly we had lost touch with him. (We very much look forward to reconnecting!!) When Rylan visited after Christmas, he reminded me that his whole family visited us one Sunday afternoon and he played chess with one of Abbie's brothers the whole time! This was a treat to hear and a wonderful reminder of how God's people are so closely connected in HIM.The story continues and involves faithfulness, patience, kindness, joy, dancing, acts of service, long drives, lots of laughter, long hours apart followed by snatched hours together, meals, squabbles, and even a trip to visit Virginia family together and multiple trips to the higher elevation of Prescott to escape the summer heat.The best part of their story is that they are trusting in the Lord with all their hearts and seeking to NOT lean on their own understanding, but in all their ways to acknowledge HIM. We are so thankful that God has promised to lead and direct them and that He has given them each other and will establish their ways!Abigail's Mom--Jenni Baker
